MOROCCAN Beni Ourain WOOL RUG - Layla - 332 x 210 cm
MOROCCAN Beni Ourain WOOL RUG - Layla - 332 x 210 cm
Hand knotted especially for you in the ways of the Beni Ourain nomadic tribes that inhabit the snowy Atlas Mountains in the area of Taza, Morocco. These tribes are renowned for producing some of the best wool in the world and their rugs have a remarkably soft and fluffy texture. Your made to order rug will be created knot by knot with ancient techniques passed down from mother to daughter through the generations.
The Beni Ourain tribes traditionally use raw wool, which is why it is most common to see these beautiful rugs in creamy whites and featuring natural black or brown patterns created by the wool from the dark sheep of the herd. Nowadays you can sometimes see them getting playful with colors made from natural pigments such as turmeric yellow, saffron orange and indigo blue.
These skilled artisans draw their inspiration from the Moroccan landscape in its truest form, with symbolism rooted deeply in North African culture. Since they mostly work with undyed wool it simply has to be of the highest quality and this is why they focus so much on the entire process that takes place long before the yarn meets the weaving loom.
We work closely with our artisans to make these rugs special. As you will see, they are truly pieces of art that elevate any interior, complementing both modern and bohemian design language. No matter which pattern you choose, know that your rug will give your home an incredibly cozy feeling for many years to come.
Äventyr believes in a more sustainable world made from natural materials. It is with this mindset we source products that last a lifetime and can easily be absorbed by nature once they have fulfilled their purpose. Handmade is not only more beautiful, it is also better for the environment.
As this is a handmade item, please expect some variation in the shade of color, texture and pattern compared to the one in the pictures. No two rugs are the same, which makes every rug truly unique.
